Caring Dental Volunteers with Dentaid in Margate

At Caring Dental, we are dedicated to giving back to the community and supporting those in need. Recently, our practice manager and dental nurse, Heather, and dentist Natalie spent a day volunteering with Dentaid’s mobile dental unit in Margate. It was an incredible experience providing vital dental care to people experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable groups.

What is the Dentaid mobile dental unit?

Dentaid’s mobile clinics travel to hostels, soup kitchens, day centres, and other community locations to offer free pain-relieving dental treatments, preventive care, and oral health advice. Their work helps restore not only smiles but also self-esteem, supporting patients who might otherwise struggle to access dental care. The mobile dental units are equipped to provide a wide range of treatments.

Who Benefits from Dentaid’s Work?

Dentaid provides dental care to a wide range of vulnerable groups, including:

  • People experiencing homelessness
  • Refugees and asylum seekers
  • Survivors of abuse
  • Military veterans
  • Families living in poverty
  • Patients recovering from head and neck cancer

Many of the patients seen by Dentaid’s clinics have not had access to dental care for years. They may suffer from anxiety, mental health challenges, or long-term dental pain. By bringing care directly to familiar and safe locations, Dentaid helps alleviate immediate pain and encourages patients to re-engage with their oral health.

Our day with Dentaid was truly inspiring. The work they do is transformative—not only providing much-needed dental treatment but also offering patients the opportunity to feel heard, cared for, and valued.

We’re proud to have been part of this initiative and look forward to continuing our efforts to support communities by volunteering again in the future.
