Dr Bizhan Shokouhi is a registered specialist in oral surgery who qualified from Barts and The London University in 2008. He divides his time between working at Guy’s Hospital in London and in private practice, providing surgical and implant treatment. He is also an honorary clinical lecturer for the Master's programme in Dental Implantology at Bristol University and is one of the currently handful of College of Dentistry accredited implantology mentors in the UK.
Bizhan has a Master’s degree in Dental Implantology with distinction. He has completed an Advanced Surgical Master Curriculum in Regenerative Implant Dentistry. He uses the latest evidence-based techniques, equipment, and materials to achieve the best possible results. His training encompasses not only the surgical field but also includes aesthetic dentistry, sedation, and clinical hypnotherapy.
Bizhan is passionate about teaching and fulfils this role at Guy's Hospital in oral surgery for both undergraduate and postgraduate dentists. He also teaches and mentors for the Dental Implantology MSc at Bristol University and supports colleagues in other practices who wish to learn more about dental implants. He is active in research, having published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences, where he once won an award in the US.
Currently, Bizhan is a co-investigator and oral surgeon for a large clinical trial at Guy's Hospital, researching the potential use of a new sedative drug in dentistry. This groundbreaking research is the first of its kind in the world.
Known for his calm and relaxing demeanour, Bizhan places special attention on being gentle, helping to put his patients at ease and quickly building mutual trust.
Outside of his professional life, Bizhan values a balanced lifestyle. He loves being a dad and spending time with his family. He is also enthusiastic about technology and enjoys playing the piano.
Bizhan is available to see patients on Tuesdays and every other Thursday.
